"נולדתי בעיירה קטנה, הקרובה לוורשה. בשנת 1939, כשהלכתי ברחוב עם משפחתי, גירשו אותנו מהעיירה, תוך שעתיים היינו צרכים לעזוב. אם לא היו נוהגים כך, היו הורגים אותנו. לפני שגורשנו לקחו את אבא שלי למחנה עבודה, לכן אימי וסבא וסבתא שלי החליטו לברוח. לא היה לנו כלום חוץ מכמה בגדים. התגלגלנו ממקום למקום, ישנו בחוץ, ולא היה לנו אוכל. אני לא זוכרת איך נשלחנו לרוסיה, אני חושבת שהצלב האדום שלח אותנו לסיביר.

גרנו שם בכפר קטן, באוהלים, נשלחו לעבוד בעבודות קשות, ועבדנו בהן במשך תקופה ארוכה. בסיום המלחמה חזרנו לפולין. ב-1946 היה שם פוגרום, השליחים שהגיעו לפולין אספו את כל היהודים והבריחו אותם לאוסטריה, למחנה פליטים. גילינו בו קרובי משפחה מדרום אמריקה ונסענו לחיות שם."

“I was born in a small town close to Warsaw. In 1939, as I walked in the street with my family, we were told we have to leave the town. Within two hours we had to leave, otherwise they would kill us. Before they expelled us, they took my father to a work camp, so my mother and grandfather and grandmother decided to flee. We had nothing except a few clothes, we wandered from place to place, sleeping outside. We had no food. I don’t remember how we were sent to Russia, I think the Red Cross sent us to Siberia. 

There we lived in a small village, in tents. We were sent to do hard work, and we did this for a long time. At the end of the war we went back to Poland. In 1946 there was a pogrom there. The emissaries who came to Poland collected all the Jews and smuggled us to Austria, to a refugee camp. There we found relatives from South America and we went to live there.”
