“As a child I suffered from antisemitism. When the Germans came to our town, after my father was suddenly taken to a forced labor camp, my mother and I fled from the house to the forests. We thought we’d never see each other again. It was only after four years, when the Red Army captured the country and liberated the prisoners, and my father was among them, that we were reunited. It was a huge surprise and joy. In January 1949 we immigrated to Israel and here we built our home. As a persecuted Jewish child, I feel it is a great privilege to live in the holy city of Jerusalem, for ever.
