לקראת הלידה של צילי חפר אביה בעזרת שכניו בור, שבו הסתתרה האם שרה עד ללידה. לאחר הלידה היא נשארה בו עם צילי התינוקת, עד שנרגעו ההפגזות. אביה היה במחנות עבודה בכפייה, אך לא סיפר על כך לצילי, היא גילתה עובדה זו כשקיבלה תיעוד מ"יד ושם".

צילי לא זוכרת פרטים מהמלחמה מאחר שהייתה בת חודשיים כשהסתיימה המלחמה. בנוסף, המפלגה הקומוניסטית אסרה לדבר על המלחמה, ולכן הוריה לא דיברו או סיפרו לה דבר. צילי והוריה עלו לארץ בשנת 1962, צילי הקימה משפחה בישראל.

Just before Tsilli’s birth, her father with the help of neighbors dug a pit, in which her mother Sarah hid until the birth. After the birth she remained in the pit with the infant, until the shelling stopped. Her father was in a forced labor camp, but he did not tell Tsilli about it. She discovered this when she received the documentation from Yad Vashem.

Tsilli cannot remember anything about the war since she was only two months old when it ended. Also, the Communist Party banned discussion of the war, so her parents did not tell her anything. Tsilli and her parents immigrated to Israel and 1962, where Tsilli married and started a family.
