“At the beginning of the war, in 1940, under the German occupation, I fled alone to southern France, which was still free. I hid in all kinds of places until 1942. During the war my father, Shmuel Skornitzky, was the lawyer of the Spanish Ambassador, and in an unbelievable series of events, he was appointed to take his place. Thanks to this forged identity my father saved many Jews and partisans.”
