“When the war started my mother, Hannah Leah Idel, was two years old. Her farther was taken to forced labor camps in Romania, and also participated in the death march, which he survived. My mother, her brother who was six years older than her, and my grandmother remained in Focșani. Her father did not come home for three years, and they were very difficult years for the family, but my mother never talked about them.
In 1964 my parents immigrated to Israel. They set up their home in Jerusalem and had 2 daughters, myself and my sister, and now 7 grandchildren. All the family love and admire the wisdom of my mother, who raised us with honor and served as a model for us. My mother loves life and tries to enjoy every moment. She loves to play bridge, to draw and go on outings.”
