ילדותה המאושרת של ירדנה נקטעה באחת בגלל המלחמה. היא נשלחה עם משפחתה היישר לאושוויץ, ושם על הרציף הפריד מנגלה בינה ובין אחותה הקטנה ואימה, ומאז הן לא נפגשו. היא נשלחה למחנה עבודה שהיה בקרבת אושוויץ ועסקה בייצור נשק בעבור הגרמנים. בסיום המלחמה עלתה לארץ ולחמה במלחמת השחרור.
ירדנה נישאה לבעלה שאול, ויחד הם הקימו משפחה, המונה היום כ-80 איש. כבר שנים שירדנה רוקמת. היא התחילה לרקום את תמונות חייה, את סיפורה המרגש והכואב, ובעיקר את הצמיחה, התקווה והאופטימיות התמידית, והכינה לכל נכד ונין תמונה, שבה שזור שמו ואפיונים שונים.

Yardena’s happy childhood was suddenly cut short by the war. With her family she was sent directly to Auschwitz, and on the platform Mengele separated her from her little sister and her mother, and she never saw them again. She was sent to a forced labor camp near Auschwitz where she worked making weapons for the Germans. When the war ended she immigrated to Israel and fought in the War of Independence.
Yardena married her husband Shaul and they started a family which today numbers about 80 people. For many years Yardena has embroidered tapestries. She started embroidering scenes from her life, her moving and painful story, and above all the growth, hope, and eternal optimism, and made a picture for every grandchild and great-grandchild which incorporates their names and various features of their character.
